As the world fights to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ontario government looks ahead, hoping to make lasting changes to their response to public health emergencies. As such, the Ontario government as decided to invest $50 million to the Ontario Together Fund (OTF), a government fund for firms and organizations that support either or both:
- The ongoing COVID-19 response by the Ontario government
- Ontario’s preparedness for future public health emergencies
Their focus will be manufacturing and innovation projects that help combat COVID-19 and provide goods & services essential to health, safety, and security.
The provincial priorities include:
- Strengthen manufacturing capacity
- Support technologies & innovations
- Strengthen the medical technology (MedTech) sector

Types of Funding Available:
The Ontario government is looking to support eligible projects through conditional grants that will cover up to 75% of eligible costs for the projects to a maximum of $2.5 million. They will also be providing complimentary support and services for those eligible.
Eligible Applicants:
- MUST be a firm or organization based in Ontario (Scale-ups will be considered)
- Have minimum 2 years of operations
- Serve business and/or consumer markets
Eligible Projects:
- Support Ontario’s ongoing response to Covid-19 Pandemic and/or preparedness for future public health emergencies
- Must be completed by March 31st, 2022
Applications for this program will be assessed on the following criteria:
- Alignment with provincial priorities
- Technical & financial assessment of:
- Risks and mitigation approaches related to ability to execute project, deliver services, inputs, or finished products that meet appropriate specifications
- Applicant’s financial position to carry out the project
- Identification of ongoing business or market for the product or solution
- Creation of jobs, retention, and regional impacts of the project
- Compliance with relevant legislations and regulations
This is a discretionary, non-entitlement program. Even if an application meets all of the program objectives and eligibility criteria, there is no obligation to for the program to provide funding or services.
