This program encourages partnerships between organizations and university researchers to generate new knowledge and create benefits to Canada.

How Much Funding?
Option 1: $20,000-$1M/year
- Large organizations who are the sole partner organization or in partnership with other large organizations in the same sector: up to 50%
- Large organizations partnered with an SME (e.g. value or supply-chain relationship), or with other sectors; small/medium organizations who are the sole partner organizations or partnered with other sectors: up to 66.7%
Option 2: $30,000-$100,000/year
- partnership must include one organization that is recognized by NSERC
- not-for-profit and public partner organizations: up to 100%
- private sector: up to 90%

Who Qualifies?
Canada-wide
Option 1 projects require:
- Must be a partnership between a Canadian university researcher and an organization (private, public or not-for-profit) who is recognized by NSERC cost sharing
- Can also have other co-applicants
- Must have a specific R&D challenge within the fields of natural sciences and engineering
- Projects must have a meaningful research component
Option 2 projects require:
- addressing a societal challenge resulting in new natural sciences and engineering knowledge and societal impact
- bringing together academic, partner organization and societal perspectives, and skill sets throughout the collaboration
- demonstrate how all interested individuals will learn about and use the products, services or policies that stem from this research

Eligible Activities & Expenditures
Short-term research and development projects aimed at addressing a company-specific problem
- Direct costs of research
- Salary of research professionals
- Salary support for research trainees (e.g. undergraduates, graduates, post-docs) to perform research and related training
- Salary support for technicians and technical personnel
- Materials and supplies
- Activities that support collaborations and knowledge mobilization related to project
- Activities to develop and grow the research collaborations with the partner organizations
